Osteoporosis, Osteopenia

What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density that can lead to serious fractures, including disabling hip fractures. It affects more than 25 million Americans, about 80% of them women.

How Do I Find Out if I'm at Risk?
At Denville Medical Sports & Rehabilitation Center, we use BMD assessment as a factor in diagnosing osteoporosis. Up until now, most procedures that assessed BMD involved intense X-ray exposure, were usually costly, and were available at very few health care sites. That why Schick Technologies has developed the accuDEXA system.

Low bone mineral density (BMD) has been associated with osteoporosis risk. An estimated 1.3 million fractures each year caused by osteoporosis, and about half of the patients who suffer a hip fracture never fully recover. Also, osteoporosis is a progressive disease. New methods have been approved for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, so it's important to catch it early, when drug therapy can greatly improve bone structure.

Accudexa technology, state of the art, safe, fast and easy bone mineral density assessment
What is accuDEXA and Why Is It Different? accuDEXA is a safe, fast and easy way to assess BMD.

SAFE - With accuDEXA, you're exposed to less than 1% of the radiation of a single conventional dental X-ray.

FAST - The accuDEXA system gives us a reading in just 30 seconds.

EASY - Assessing your BMD with accuDEXA system is a routine as taking your blood pressure. Just place your hand into the accuDEXA-30 seconds later, we will have a BMD assessment.

PROVEN TECHNOLOGY- accuDEXA uses peripheral Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry, the most popular and thoroughly studied method of assessing BMD.
