Medical Weight Loss in Mount Olive, NJ

Though getting fit and healthy is becoming trendy in America, a huge portion of our population is considered obese. According to the CDC, between 2017 and early 2020, 41.9% of adults in the U.S. were obese. 9.2% were labeled as being severely obese. Those statistics are concerning, especially when you look around grocery stores and other public places and see overweight, unhealthy adults everywhere.

The sad truth is that many of these people try fad diets and other strategies to lose weight, only to fail and fall back into their bad habits. The good news? Clinics like Denville Medical now offer medical weight loss in Mount Olive, NJ, giving overweight men and women a new lease on life at a lower, healthier weight. Unlike invasive surgeries and unreliable weight loss pills, medical weight loss plans are customized to your body and embedded with the support you need to lose weight and keep it off for good.

How Effective are Clinics for Medical Weight Loss in Mount Olive, NJ?

One of the most common concerns our medical weight loss practitioners hear is whether medical weight loss clinics are really necessary or if a gym workout suffices. While going to the gym for regular workouts is a necessary step for long-term health, many obese individuals need more than a couple hours of exercise per week. As a result, many people plateau and end up stuck in a cycle of poor weight-loss results. That's where medical weight loss clinics like Denville Medical come into play.

Understanding Obesity and Its Causing Factors

Obesity is a complex condition characterized by an abundance of body fat. While many people view obesity strictly as a cosmetic concern, in reality, it's a significant health issue prevalent in today's society. While poor life choices are often at play, not all individuals with obesity lack discipline. Weight-related problems are much more intricate and can stem from physiological, genetic, and environmental factors. Here are a few of the most common factors that lead to adult obesity:

Card Icon
Genes

Research shows that genetics can play a role in obesity. Some genetic disorders like Prader-Willi syndrome can directly cause obesity, while certain genes may make some people more likely to gain weight. However, experts believe that other factors like not being active enough or eating a lot of high-calorie foods are also important in making someone overweight.

Card Icon
Poor Sleep Habits

Don't underestimate the power of sleep! A lack of "shut-eye" can make you hungrier and even cause your hormones to become unbalanced, which can lead to weight gain. Great sleep is crucial for your overall well-being and, when combined with medical weight loss in Mount Olive, NJ, acts as fuel for daily progress.

Card Icon
Sedentary Living

With the abundance of streaming, video games, and online entertainment, sitting on your couch for hours on end is easy to do. That's especially true for younger people. Unfortunately, when you eat more calories than your body burns, you're going to get fat. Sitting around all day and leading a sedentary life is one of the most common ways to become obese.

Card Icon
Non-Nutritious Caloric Intake

Few things are as refreshing as an ice-cold beer on a hot day. However, popular beverages like beers and sodas are filled with liquid calories that do not satisfy hunger. When combined with dehydration from lack of water and a poor diet, this creates a formula that often leads to obesity.

Card Icon
Unhealthy Diet

When you choose to eat extra-large burritos with heaps of sour cream or deep-fried goodies from morning to night, you'll start packing on pounds.

Card Icon
Pervasive Stress

In today's world, stress from work and life is just as common as obesity. It's tempting to turn to unhealthy foods like candy and cheeseburgers when it seems like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. While these foods may offer a temporary boost of dopamine, they're not good for your health. Consuming sweets and fast food are surefire ways to develop obesity.

What Happens When You Live with Obesity for Years?

Obese individuals often face daily ridicule for their appearance. However, their concerns extend beyond social stigma, as they are at a heightened risk of experiencing severe and potentially life-threatening health issues. Many of these health issues rank among the leading causes of mortality in the U.S. Generally, the greater a person's weight, the higher their likelihood of developing serious and even fatal complications

Without medical weight loss in Mount Olive, NJ, you may have to deal with one or more of the following consequences:

If you have one or more of the conditions or symptoms above, don't lose hope. It's important to understand that you're not destined to live an unhealthy life. With quality, tailored medical weight loss from a clinic like Denville Medical, you can regain control of your eating habits. Top 5 Tips for Maintaining Medical Weight Loss in Mount Olive, NJ

Hitting your target weight with help from Denville Medical's weight loss program is one of the best feelings in the world. You should celebrate. Remember, though - now is not the time to throw all your hard work out of the window. Now is the time to focus on maintaining your weight loss results, so you don't spiral out of control and end up back where you were before.

Here are some science-backed tips to help you stay on track and make sure your hard work sticks.

 Nutrition Counseling Mount Olive, NJ
1. Consistency Counts

We often emphasize the importance of consistency in weight loss because being consistent with any health changes you make is the most effective way to see results. However, consistency is also important in maintaining fat loss. It's not just about sticking to a change, but rather establishing daily habits and patterns that help you succeed.

2. Eat a Healthy Breakfast Every Day

It's important to stick to an eating routine to keep your food intake under control. This could involve eating at the same time each day or having a similar meal every day. Having structure and organizing your eating habits can have a positive impact on your health because it provides a framework and guidelines to follow without needing to obsess over calories and portion sizes. This can help you manage your appetite, energy levels, and overall diet more effectively. Additionally, having a large, high-protein breakfast has been associated with better appetite control, improved blood sugar levels, and overall calorie management throughout the day.

Weight Loss Program Mount Olive, NJ
3. Cut Out Processed Foods

Having a honey bun every now and then isn't horrible, but it's important to reduce or even cut out processed foods from your diet. Heavily processed foods tend to contain empty calories and are often high in added sugar. Empty calories are calories that lack nutritional value or health benefits, making them a good target for reduction when necessary. While managing weight ultimately comes down to calorie control, research has linked the intake of processed foods, especially those high in added sugar, with higher body weights and an increased risk of weight gain. Furthermore, studies suggest that reducing consumption of heavily processed foods may be more beneficial for weight management. One study found that the body may burn twice as many calories digesting simple foods compared to heavily processed foods. Additionally, ongoing research continues to indicate that maintaining a diet consisting mostly of whole foods is associated with better weight outcomes.

4. Stick to a Regular Exercise Routine

Regular physical activity is an effective way to manage weight as it helps burn calories and make better use of the food you consume. The amount of exercise needed to maintain your weight loss varies depending on you and the type of exercises you’re performing. At Denville Medical, we provide custom plans for patients and offer exercise tips and suggestions based on your body, age, and more. That way, you don't burn yourself out or overdo it.

 Nutrition Counseling Mount Olive, NJ
5. Eat All the Non-Starchy Vegetables You Like

Vegetables are not empty calories; they provide a lot of nutrition for very little energy. This means you get more nutritional value from your diet while consuming fewer calories. Adding more low-calorie veggies to your plate can help you feel full without having to eat large portions. For example, two cups of broccoli are only 60 calories, whereas two cups of cooked pasta are almost 500 calories. Furthermore, because your body needs proper nutrition to thrive, some research suggests that consuming more nutrient-dense foods, like non-starchy vegetables, can help control hunger levels.

ROCKAWAY — David Reale let the ball go down the lane. He didn't even watch to see how many pins fell. Instead, the Delbarton senior turned around, arms outstretched, and walked toward his teammates.

Cole Dionyssiou was the first to wrap Reale up in a hug, quickly followed by the rest of the Green Wave.

Delbarton outlasted Chatham in the final round to capture the Morris County Tournament bowling plaque on Friday. It is the first for the Green Wave, which also won the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference championship last month.

Coach Kacy Kane, a math teacher and lifelong bowler, recalled taking over the program and vowing, "Give me 10 years. We'll win a county title or a state title.""This is Year Nine," he noted on Friday. "It's exciting to have this in the trophy case."

The Green Wave needed three games to defeat first Kinnelon, and then Chatham, in the semis and final. Kane was particularly pleased because no Delbarton bowler earned an individual plaque on Friday.

"My team has a lot of trust in me," said Reale, a four-year high school bowler from Warren. "It's a lot of pressure, but I'm used to the pressure to bring it home for my guys."

Though Kinnelon bowlers Michael Sprague and Nate Eisenmenger tied for the high series, and twin brother John Sprague was second for high game during the preliminary round, John said the Colts "couldn't find their marks" during the semifinal against Delbarton. All three average over 200, but Michael was still surprised to have the best series.

As a senior, Eisenmenger took home the plaque. But Michael Sprague will get one in the mail soon.

"When my name was called, I felt very confident, because that doesn't happen often," said Sprague, a sophomore who is 30 seconds younger than his twin. "It's very different being on varsity, but I'm doing better now."

MCT girl power

Teagan Mendel wasn't sure she'd be able to bowl at the MCT until the day before. That's when the Mount Olive junior got cleared after dealing with the flu and pneumonia. Mendel even asked head coach Dan Gryzwacz to bring an alternate, just in case.

But that wasn't necessary. Mendel had the best series by a girl on Friday, rolling two 157s and totaling 447. Butler sophomore Mikayla Eutermarks, a bowler since age 7, posted the high game with a 174.

Eutermarks joined the Butler bowling team this winter at the suggestion of coach Brittany Marion, but she's made the adjustment from competing against family to friends. Mendel only started bowling about 18 months ago because she wanted to earn a varsity letter. She also plays rugby, which isn't a high school sport in New Jersey.

"I was shocked. I made triple digits in all my games (after being sick)," said Mendel, who now bowls in a Saturday morning league at Rockaway Lanes. "I hope this helps me qualify for states."
