Shoulder pain can be a common condition for those with an active lifestyle. Being that the shoulder is a complex structure, it is best to seek medical attention even when experiencing minimal irritation to prevent progression and long term discomfort.


There are two types of pain associated with shoulder pain. Pain or discomfort which does not last longer than six weeks is commonly known as acute pain. Your range of motion and muscle strength will be measured including a detailed ortho-neuro exam. To gain further details into the source of your pain, additional diagnostic tests may be required:

  • X-ray
  • CT or MRI scan
  • Electromyography (EMG)
  • Computerized Range of Motion (ROM) and Muscle Test with the BioDex
  • Computerized Strength Test with the BioDex
  • Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) test
