As the weather begins to warm in New Jersey, we are more inclined to take part in outdoor physical activities. This can include longer walks, jogging, or playing sports. As we start to remove ourselves from hibernation, our body’s may not be immediately ready for such physical activity, especially if you’ve spent much of the winter indoors, on the couch, laying down, and keeping your body in stagnant positions for long periods of time.

This is where Kinesio taping comes in. Kinesiology tape helps people of all ages avoid injury and sore muscles in a beneficial and therapeutic way.

What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio tape helps to support the body’s joints and muscles. It is latex free and can be worn for multiple days. The reason why kinesio tape is so beneficial is because it mimics the structure of skin in both thickness and elasticity. For this reason, kinesio tape serves as a barrier to prevent joints and muscles from risk of injury during motion. Kinesio tape is different from strapping tape as strapping tape restricts movement and keeps the injured area restrained and immoble. Kinesio tape is latex free, can be worn for multiple days, and because of its skin-like properties kinesio tape serves as a support rather than a restraint as it allows the area to bend and move as it heals.

Who can use Kinesio Tape?

Kinesio tape is very versatile and easy to apply. For this reason, people of all ages can use kinesio tape.

Those who typically use kinesio tape are:
Athletes (Runners, golfers, cyclists, joggers, etc.)
Those with muscle or joint injuries or conditions
